The Enter key reimagined as a small sculpture: a ribbed, wave-like body with a single eye, made to sit at the heart of the GMK CYL Motif set.
Mind's Eye
Designed by Oh Type with MVKB and Akuko Labs, and crafted by Salvun, the Motif Enter Artisan reimagines the Enter key as a sculptural, tactile object. Its ribbed, wave-like body plays with form and materiality, built from a mix of aluminium, brass and polycarbonate. The layered construction adds depth you can see and feel, so it works as a key and as a bold statement piece that sits naturally within the Motif aesthetic.
This one was a long-anticipated meeting of the minds: the chance to collaborate with designers I admire produced an artisan that pushes what's possible, and ended up fun, bold and genuinely unique.
The sketch
It started as a quick pen sketch on dot-grid paper: the Enter key from above, from the front, at three-quarters and from the side, with a single almond-shaped eye set into its top. It's what I gave Tim Van Damme (Max Voltar) to get him started.

The CAD model
Salvun, who produced the artisan, then modeled it in CAD, turning the sketch into the ribbed, wave-like body with the almond eye and its clear centre set into the top.

On the board
The artisan was made to sit with GMK CYL Motif, the keycap set it launched alongside, where its pink eye and green ribs pick up the set's colourful, hand-drawn legends.
